About me

Programming was a self taught hobby that would later become the core of my studies. After joining Aston university, the stark differences between the mindsets of a hobbyist programmer and the software engineer were made apparent, and currently I try employ the latter framework of thinking in all my daily activities. Computer Science is a domain that has certainly shaped and improved my life in more ways than I can count.
I am a strong believer that deliberately challenging your mind and body promotes growth and a better sense of self. Thus, my current weekly routine incorporates, several extracurricular activities namely:

Aston Computer Science Society
As the club president, I am tasked with ensuring the swift running of the ACSS society. This society runs a Hackathon that invites students from all over the country and this arguably one of the most complex to plan but rewarding events. I am in charge of running a small team to ensure the success of this event. One of my many roles is ensuring we liaise with sponsors and ensure several technical, career and employability workshops are carried out.

Aston Volleyball Club
Being the captain of the university volleyball team has rigorously tested my leadership capabilities. There are times my resolve has been put to the test on the court. Creative solutions to outplay the enemy team, providing feedback on my teammates performance and maintaining a positive team spirit being some of the few tasks I am tasked to carry out concurrently. It's these stressful situations that have made me the leader I am today.

Aston Table Tennis Club
Aside just being one of the dedicated team players, I oversee all the day-to-day activities and represent ATT as the club President. It's a role that comes with multiple challenges that need to be creatively solved, such as marketing the club and keeping members engaged.

It does not matter what situation Lionel finds himself in, he will always try his best to carry out his instructions and complete it to the best of his ability. Lionel is a community minded person; he cares for, and supports those around him.
